How to use the sheet
Your child can do the sheet for practice at home or as a check before a test. Go through the tasks together afterwards and look at which type of task is still uncertain.
A separate answer sheet is not part of this material. If you are unsure when checking, our teachers are happy to help.
Maths in grade 3
In grade 3 the number range grows to 1000. Children learn how many hundreds, tens and ones a number contains, show numbers with hundred squares, ten strips and dots, find neighbouring numbers, tens and hundreds, and find their way on the number line and in the thousand chart.
The content follows the Swiss Lehrplan 21 curriculum. Exactly when a topic is covered depends on the canton, the school and the textbook.
Two assessment pages on numbers up to 1000, designed for 30 minutes: entering hundreds, tens and units, representing numbers with squares, strips and dots, reading numbers off the number line and writing them in digits. With a points box on every task and two answer pages.
Three assessment pages on arithmetic up to 1000: adding mentally, reading numbers from place value material, completing to 100 or 1000, written addition, mental subtraction, continuing number patterns and filling number walls. With three answer pages for self-correction.
Finding number neighbours with confidence: for 15 numbers up to 1000 the children enter the smaller neighbours on the left and the larger ones on the right, each time the neighbouring number, ten and hundred. One task page and one answer sheet for self-correction.
