Maths reimagined: playful, creative and effective. In our maths courses in Aarau and Cham children build a confident understanding of numbers step by step, learn clever calculation strategies and take on tasks they could not solve before. All without pressure or frustration, so that «I have to do maths» becomes «I love maths».
The foundation is the Brainorithmics Math Program, created by our founder Nataša Mijatović (MSc Mathematics). It follows the Swiss curriculum and takes regional differences into account, but deliberately goes further than the current school material: children should not only know how a method works, they should understand why it works.

What we teach
Little Maths Heroesages 5 to 6
The perfect first step into the world of mathematics! Children develop a confident understanding of numbers, get to know the numbers up to 20 and solve their first simple addition and subtraction tasks. The goal is to build a strong basic sense of numbers as the foundation for successful learning in mathematics.
Maths Makes Magicages 6 to 7
Playfully building calculation confidence! Children practise adding and subtracting up to 100, train mental arithmetic and develop more routine and speed. The goal is confident use of the basic operations and a solid mathematical foundation.
Calculate Like a Proages 7 to 9
The next step towards confident calculation! Children learn the basics of multiplication and division, solve their first word problems and apply their strategies to larger numbers. The goal is confident, independent calculation in everyday life and at school.
Number Pro Strategiesages 9 to 11
Understanding mathematics instead of memorising! Children solve more demanding word problems, discover the world of fractions and develop effective calculation strategies as well as their own ways of thinking. The goal is a confident understanding of more complex mathematical connections and strategic problem solving.
Masters of Number Logicages 11 to 12
The challenge for young thinkers! Children train fast and clever calculation, solve exciting puzzles and strengthen their logical thinking. The goal is optimal preparation for advanced mathematics and the joy of mastering challenges with smart strategies.
Four goals at every level
Whether a child is just discovering the numbers up to 20 or getting ready for lower secondary school: at every level we work on the same four areas, only at a different depth.
- Understanding: what does a number, a calculation or a relationship between numbers actually mean?
- Strategies: can I break a number down, complete it, estimate or use a pattern instead of calculating blindly?
- Applying: does my knowledge also help me with an unfamiliar word problem or in everyday life?
- Thinking: can I explain my solution and perhaps find a second way?
That is why the correct answer is not the only thing that counts. We look at how a child thinks, and a mistake is often the best starting point for a good discussion in the group: where do our approaches differ, and at which point did something go wrong?
How the groups work
A lesson lasts 105 minutes. The groups are organised by age, from six to eight year olds up to lower secondary from age eleven, and have at most eight children, usually four to six. Within the group every child works at their own level: faster children get more demanding tasks, and those who need more time look at a step more closely.
Playful does not mean undemanding. Puzzles, small competitions and maths games call for the same skills as a worksheet, but here the children want to keep thinking of their own accord. Mental arithmetic and word problems are added as soon as the children are ready.
Maths course, tutoring or MATH Club?
Parents often ask us this. The three options have different goals:
- Maths course: builds a foundation for the long term, independent of the current chapter at school.
- Tutoring: starts with the current school material, a gap in knowledge, an upcoming exam or Gymnasium preparation, usually one to one.
- MATH Club: 120 minute meetings for children aged 8 and up who love puzzles and want to explore maths beyond the school syllabus.

Prices
The maths course costs from CHF 157.50 per month in a small group, including a small gift for your child. Siblings receive a 10 % discount for the first, 15 % for the second and 20 % for every further child. Children who also attend a coding course receive a combined price on request. The first lesson is a free trial lesson without obligation.

Frequently asked questions about maths courses
What age are the maths courses for?
For children aged 5 to 13. The five levels build on each other, from the Little Maths Heroes (ages 5 to 6) through Calculate Like a Pro (ages 7 to 9) to the Masters of Number Logic (ages 11 to 12). There is also a lower secondary group for young people from age 11. Your child joins at the level that fits their current stage.
Is this the same as tutoring?
No. The maths courses build number sense, calculation strategies and logical thinking systematically, independent of the current school material. If your child needs targeted help with homework or exams, our tutoring is the right place. And for children who want more, there is the Brainorithmics MATH Club.
How big are the groups?
A group has at most eight children, usually four to six. That way the teacher sees every calculation and can support each child individually. Children who prefer to work entirely on their own will find one to one lessons in our tutoring.
When do the courses take place, and can my child join later?
The current groups and times are listed under Current course times on this page, for Aarau and for Cham. New groups start regularly, and joining during the school year is possible as long as places are free and the level fits.
Are the maths courses also available in English?
Yes. In Cham a group for ages 7 to 9 runs in English on Sundays from 9:30 to 11:15, ideal for English speaking families in the Zug region. We open further English groups when there are enough registrations, just ask us.
Is there a free trial lesson?
Yes. Your child takes part in one lesson without obligation and gets to know the teacher and the group. After that you decide in your own time whether the course is right.
